Tenor Jason Karn has impressed critics and audiences alike with his vibrant, bright tone and dramatic characterizations. Of a recent New York City performance as Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, the New York Sun said, “He has an attractive soft-grained tenor that at its best reminded me a bit of the late Alfredo Kraus. Mr. Karn’s singing was flexible, smoothly phrase, and secure on top.”

During the 2009-2010 season, noted engagements included his Avery Fisher Hall debut with the American Symphony Orchestra in the American Premiere of Vincent D’Indy’s Fervaal, his Washington National Opera debut as Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos, a return to the Pittsburgh Opera as Al Joad in The Grapes of Wrath, and a return to the Chautauqua Opera as Ferrando in Così Fan Tutte. Next, he performs Cassio in Otello with Opera Carolina and Arizona Opera, and Ferrando in Così Fan Tutte with the Duke Symphony Orchestra

Additional recent engagements include Spoletta in Tosca at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro John Mauceri, Christian cover in DiChiera’s Cyrano at Opera Company of Philadelphia, Fenton in Falstaff at Opera North, Nemorino in L'Elisir d’Amore with Capital Opera, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte for Granite State Opera and Natchez Opera, and Lt. Cable in South Pacific at Opera Boston, where he also covered Candide. A house favorite at Opera Carolina, Mr. Karn recently returned as Alfredo in La Traviata, Luther and Rufus Buford in Cold Sassy Tree, Remendado in Carmen, Malcolm in Macbeth, and Normano in Lucia di Lammermoor.
